7 Little Tricks To Speak In Public With No Fear
There was once a time when I had no fear. I was 11 years old and I entered a story telling competition. I was confidently telling the story and captured everyone’s attention until suddenly I heard a voice from just in front of the stage commenting about my nose. It’s totally disastrous from that moment on. I lost focus and forgot the script altogether. That’s the exact time that I began to have a certain fear of public speaking.
Over the years, I finally overcome my fear of public speaking. I can now speak at any function unprepared and even though the nervousness is still there, I am able to control it. It was not easy but I made it with some help from books and a few techniques I develop myself.
Hopefully these tricks will be able to help you as they had helped me in overcoming fear of public speaking.
1) Admit nervousness
All you have to do is admit that you are a bit nervous speaking to your audience. When you do this, the audience will be more forgiving if your nervousness shows up later on. More importantly you will feel more relaxed now that they are not expecting a world-class presentation. Imagine their surprise when you gave them the best presentation ever despite your nervousness.
The best way to do this is by joking about it. Here’s an example of a good one. “On the way here, only God and I knew what I will be presenting. (looking a bit nervous) Now, only God knows.”
2) Redefine your audience
Redefine your audience generally means changing how you see your audience. Instead of seeing them as lecturers who are evaluating you, maybe you can convince yourself that they are all fellow students who are in queue to present after you. They are all equally nervous so there is no reason why you should be too.
Or perceive them as long lost friends that you haven’t seen for 10 years. This way you can maintain eye contact trying to figure out where you have seen him before. To the audiences, they will see a very friendly and personal presentation.
Do not try to convince yourself that they are babies in diapers or that nobody is around as suggested by some books. It is very hard to convince yourself that no one is around when you are actually speaking to them.
3) Invest in visual aids
Imagine a presentation with beautiful PowerPoint slides and even more impressive notes given to each of your audience members. Half of the time, their eyes will not be on you. They will read through the notes and your fancy slides. This will help a lot as you can then speak to the people who are not looking at you. When they look at you, you just change your focus to other people who are not looking. Giving a speech to people who are not looking at you is always easier.
4) Make mistakes intentionally
This is another trick I encourage you to try. Once I “accidentally” dropped my notes on the floor, and while picking them up, I warned the audiences that the presentation will be more confusing after this. I heard some laughter from the floor.
The idea is to gain control of your audience. If you can make them laugh and be more interactive with you, your presentation will have that casual feel to it which will make it more memorable than others. Ultimately you will find it easier to do.
5) Speak to one person at a time
One of the most terrifying things about public speaking is the crowd. Just by looking at the crowd, all in silence just to hear you speak, will send shivers down your spine. To overcome this, you just need to speak to one person at a time.
Choose one member of your audience and dedicate your whole presentation to him or her. Just assume that everyone else is not paying attention. When someone asks you a question, change your focus to that person and answer the question as if the two of you are in a coffee shop chatting away. Isn’t that the most relaxing way to handle a crowd?
6) Be impressive with personal opinion
Just like blogging, everyone can copy an article and paste it onto their blog. However, people read blogs not only to know about things happening but to know what that particular blogger’s opinion is on the matter.
When you speak or give a presentation, try to squeeze in a few of your personal thoughts on the matter. Of course these should be prepared early on. However, you should make it as if the ideas are “just in” while you are presenting. That will differentiate your presentation from the rest, and when you see the interested look on the faces of your audience, it will elevate your presentation to another new level, a level where you start having fun.
7) Have fun experimenting
This is the most important tips of all. Have fun with the crowd. Try new ways to give the best presentation to your audience. Maybe experiment with a new funny approach, or walk around the hall instead of being static on the stage. Have fun with experimenting on human behavior and you will see that public speaking is not that bad after all.
Remember that there are no failures, only different results.
Have fun!

The Use of "So/Too" (Juga) and "Either/Neither" (Juga Tidak)
Declare an event conducted by someone or something then others do the same (menyatakan suatu kejadian yang dilakukan oleh seseorang atau sesuatu, kemudian orang lain berbuat hal yang sama)
formula:
POSITIVE SENTENCES
- subject + Auxiliary verb (kata kerja bantu) + too (use for too)
- so + Auxuliary verb(kata kerja bantu) (use for so)
NEGATIVE SENTENCES
- subject + Auxiliary verb + either (use for either)
- neither + Auxiliary verb + subject (use for neither = not either)
EXAMPLE
- I am an English teacher and you are too.
- I am an English teacher and so are you.
- Jessica went to Semarang on her holiday and Sinta does too
- Jessica went to Semarang on her holiday and so does Sinta
- Siska did not buy a candy and neither did I
- Siska did not buy a candy and I did not either
- lily doesn't call me and you don't either
- The boys are not student and neither am I
*) Keyword for negative sentences : if the subject in the back, you have to write 'neither' at front the subject , because the sentece will be like this ' Siska did not buy a candy and NOT EITHER did '
Struggle Of the Butterfly
A biology teacher was teaching his students how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He told the students that in the next couple of hours, the butterfly would struggle to come out of the cocoon. But no one should help the butterfly. Then he left.
The students were waiting and it happened. The butterfly struggled to get out of the cocoon, and one of the students took pity on it and decided to help the butterfly out of the cocoon against the advice of his teacher. He broke the cocoon to help the butterfly so it didn't have to struggle anymore. But shortly afterwards the butterfly died.
When the teacher returned, he was told what happened. He explained to this student that by helping the butterfly, he had actually killed it because it is a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen its wings. The boy had deprived the butterfly of its struggle and the butterfly died.
- Apply this same principle to our lives. Nothing worthwhile in life comes without a struggle. As parents we tend to hurt the ones we love most because we don't allow them to struggle to gain strength.
Sara Went Shopping
Sara Smith, a Pasadena resident, went shopping. She is 30, and has lived
at 3037 N. Foothill Street since 1992. Sara has been married to John
for seven years. They have two children; Bob is five years old and Nancy
is three. Sara owns a 1995 four-door blue Toyola. At 9 a.m., Sara got
into her car and drove to Barget, a department store a mile away.
Barget was having a holiday sale. Sara bought a four-slice toaster for
$29.95 plus tax. The regular price was $39.95. She paid by check. On
her way home, Sara stopped at MilkPlus to buy a gallon of nonfat milk.
The milk was $3.50. Sara got 50 cents back in change.
Sara arrived home at 10 a.m. John and the kids were still sleeping. She
woke them up and then made a hot and nutritious breakfast for everyone.

How to improve your skill in English ? read this
Many English Competitions, like Speech Contest and Story Telling Contest, if we want to join at that competition we have to improve our skill in English
Guys and girls, surely all of us want to improve our English to be better, right ?
honestly YES :)
want to know how to do it ?
this is it......
Thanks to satellite TV, British, American and Australian television programmes and films are widely available all over the world. Try watching with subtitles at first and then without them as you gain confidence.
2. Listen to the radio about English.
The BBC World Service is just one excellent source of spoken English and even broadcasts programs for learners.
3. Read English language newspapers
Some newspapers use more complex language than others, so choose the right one for you. Remember that you can start with the headlines and then progress to reading the articles as you gain confidence.
4. Use the internet
You can listen to the radio online, watch TV clips and read articles. You can even chat to people. There are also many pages on the web dedicated to teaching English as a foreign language.
5. Practice speaking English wherever you can
If you live in an English speaking country then this is easier, but if not then you can talk to visitors. Don't be shy, and don't worry about making mistakes - just have a go!
6. Keep a vocabulary book of useful words and phrases and add to it regularly
7. Read children's magazines
They are attractive, they tend to have many short articles, and they come in many subjects (science, literature, self-improvement). But more importantly, they are well-illustrated. The pictures will allow you to understand many words without having to use a dictionary.
8. Choose a book series made for children and read them for practice
After you get to know the characters and the vocabulary used in the series, your reading gets easier and you will begin to be able to read more quickly, while still picking up expressions and vocabulary from one volume to the next. Try Nancy Drew, Animorphs, Sweet Valley Twins or any of a number of other easy series books which are widely available in libraries.
